The Bergskaap Floating Trophy

We love climbing big mountains, so we made a trophy for the climb itself.

At selected big-mountain races, the biggest climb on the course is timed. The fastest woman and the fastest man on that climb take home the trophy, a bronze Bergskaap on a piece of raw slate.

The trophy floats. It doesn't belong to one race, one athlete or one season. It goes to whoever climbs best on the day.

Bragging rights included.

The inaugaral trophy went to Simon Tshabalala and Simone Malan at the 2022 SkyRun.

In 2023 it went to Ryan Sandes and Sylvie Scherzinger at the MUT miler VK.

In 2024 it went to Emily Djock and Jacques Buys at the Geelbekskop Segment at P2P.

In 2025 it went to Caro Jordaan and Admire Muzopambwa at P2P.
